PSV has concrete plans to further modernize access to the Philips Stadium. A pilot will therefore start in January that, if successful next season, will result in a new digital access system via an app on the phone.
With physical season tickets, paper tickets and PDFs or photos on phones, there is currently no single, sustainable way to get into the stadium. As a result, PSV cannot facilitate everyone equally and the lines for the entrance gates are sometimes unnecessarily long. Out of date, PSV thinks, as do a number of other clubs that are also testing the new system.
The app allows supporters to easily transfer their seats to family or friends or easily offer them via PSV Resale. This reduces the number of empty seats. The app is also less susceptible to fraud than some solutions currently in use. Because the system is personal through a one-time link with ID proof, PSV keeps a better overview of who is a guest in the stadium. In this way, black marketeering will soon be a thing of the past.
"We are convinced that this is a good next step to continue welcoming our visitors hospitably and safely," said Marcel Brands, General Manager of PSV. "The app also allows us to directly notify supporters when there are relevant developments surrounding their match attendance. With this we raise our service level and meet the needs of our time."
Anyone with a smartphone in their pocket will soon also have their ticket in hand automatically. For supporters without a smartphone, PSV's ticket sales department is creating an alternative solution.
PSV already uses a similar system of personal access for away matches to the satisfaction of all concerned. For the introduction at the Philips Stadium, the club is working with PSV Klankbord, both in the creation of the plans and in the rollout of the pilot.
PSV is initially testing the system with its own employees. Supporters involved in the pilot will receive personal notification.
