After lesser results in the league, PSV/FC Eindhoven struck mercilessly Friday night in the home match against Belgian KAA Gent. Lisanne Vermeulen turned out to be a goal scoring machine and scored four goals, three of them in the first half.
Red card for Gent
Already in the 4th minute it was 1-0 through Myrthe Moorrees, who recaptured the ball twice on willpower, went at the goalkeeper on her own and then beat her. KAA Gent certainly offered resistance and had most of the ball possession but had to allow PSV/FC Eindhoven to counter danger through the constantly rising Van de Donk, Coolen, Becx and Vermeulen, while Bouharat and Moorrees physically dominated in midfield. Vermeulen doubled the score in the 21st minute by simply tapping in. In the 26th minute, Van de Donk threatened to put the 3-0 on the scoreboard but defender Maëlis Henneuse pulled the emergency brake and was sent off with a red card. Vermeulen was then good for the 3-0 in 28th minute (assist Van de Donk) and the 4-0 (assist Bouharat). While the attack was running smoothly, the defensive line with Pfeiffer, Peels, Evers and Egelmeers kept everything tight.
Convincing victory
The picture did not change and PSV/FC Eindhoven looked for more goals. Becx missed in a promising position, but a minute later it was still 5-0 through Van de Donk, who curled a free kick into the long corner and grabbed her goal. Coach Nebojsa Vuckovic gave minutes played to Celeste van de Groef, Lisa Korevaar and Glenda van Lieshout. The latter scored the 6-0 immediately when she was inside the lines on a pass from Coolen. The final chord was for Vermeulen who added to the power play in the 83rd minute by simply heading in a corner. The massive crowd was spoiled on this rainy Friday night and saw PSV/FC Eindhoven win 7-0.
