Feyenoord are having a very mixed season. Coach Giovanni van Bronckhorst's side are in fourth place in the league and are already twenty points behind leaders PSV. Feyenoord must win to retain their third-place position and will have to be armed to the teeth to add to the tension in the title race.
Positive balance
No club in the Eredivisie won as many league games from PSV as Feyenoord. The Rotterdammers won fifty times from PSV. At De Kuip, Feyenoord lost only one of the last seven matches against PSV. PSV's last win dates back to Jan. 17, 2016 (0-2). Last season Feyenoord became champions of the Eredivisie and PSV only lost an Eredivisie match twice in that season and that was against Feyenoord, of all places. The most recent match between the two clubs was on Jan. 31, 2018, and ended in a 2-0 win for Feyenoord in the quarterfinals of the KNVB Beker. Feyenoord and PSV met 123 times before in the Eredivisie. Feyenoord won 50 times, 29 times the match ended in a draw and 44 times PSV stepped off the field victorious.
Berghuis
Steven Berghuis is currently pulling the cart at Feyenoord. The outfielder managed to find the net 12 times so far and provided eight assists. Berghuis has been involved in the nine goals at De Kuip seven times in his last nine games for Feyenoord. He scored three times and was responsible for the assist four times. In the eight games Berghuis played against PSV, he recorded only one assist and no goals.
2018
Feyenoord's start to the second half of the season has also been quite shaky. In the first seven league games, three were lost, one ended in a draw and Feyenoord managed to win three times. All three wins came at De Kuip. Feyenoord also received three red cards already this calendar year. Feyenoord can win two Eredivisie games in a row for the first time in 2018 and should the Rotterdammers beat PSV, it will mean the fifth win in a row at De Kuip.
