Jetro Willems and Jorrit Hendrix will miss next weekend's ADO Den Haag - PSV match. This was revealed by head coach Phillip Cocu after his team's Friday training. Cocu also indicated that he will not spare anyone in view of the topper against Ajax, next Sunday.
No man's land
According to the head coach, saving is out of the question because PSV cannot afford to lose points against the in-form ADO Den Haag. "If we are not able to win, we will end up in no man's land. On the contrary, we want to get the maximum out of the last four duels."
Cocu is therefore also disappointed that Willems and Hendrix will have to miss the game in The Hague. Hendrix, who was injured at training last week, still has to be examined. Cocu hopes it won't be too bad. "I think it's very unfortunate for the team and for himself. Jorrit really came back to it, he manifested well. Hopefully he will only be out of it this week."
Wind in the sails
Opponent ADO Den Haag have the wind in their sails after the change of coach (Groenendijk for Petrovic). The last three games have been won, making maintenance a real possibility. "From the outside, it's hard to judge how that came about," Cocu responded. "What you do see is that the coach sticks to the same patterns: a recognizable team that opts for an unchanged tactic. That is often a prerequisite for good performance."
PSV of the future
At the request of the journalists present, Cocu additionally glanced at PSV's near future. A number of boys who are playing with Young PSV this season will get the chance to play in the PSV squad next summer, Cocu told them. At the same time, he emphasized that he has already offered the talent opportunities at training sessions with the A-selection this season as well.
"We do that to give them time to get used to that level. I think those talents are making a good impression, they are growing, but there is quite a difference between playing in PSV 1 and Young PSV. We have the ambition to let more boys find the connection, but do not mirror other clubs in doing so."
