It was the most frequently asked question around the Willem II training ground last week. Will Fran Sol stay in Tilburg? The Spanish goal scorer of the Tricolores stayed and thus takes on PSV today with Willem II.
Robbemond
Sol is already good for three goals this season in the team of which Adrie Koster recently became coach. The former PSV player succeeded Reinier Robbemond, who is now on the bench at PSV as assistant coach of Mark van Bommel. Robbemond made his debut last season as interim coach against PSV, winning 5-0 at the time. A match that will undoubtedly be cited more often in the years to come when PSV and Willem II meet.
Active
Where Sol stayed, Willem II drew quite a few new players of its own. By far the most famous was finally committed yesterday: Vurnon Anita is rented for a season from Leeds United. In addition, Willem II attracted acquaintances such as Donis Avdijaj, Aras Özbiliz and Dan Crowley. All have a past in the Dutch Eredivisie.
Unbeaten for 32 matches already
PSV has made the Philips Stadium an impregnable fortress. For 32 home matches in a row, PSV has not lost in the Eredivisie. PSV won 28 of those matches. Also against Willem II, PSV has an excellent track-record. Of the last 15 meetings in Eindhoven, PSV won 15 of them.
