Head coach Roger Schmidt wants to end 2020 with a win. Against VVV-Venlo, he hopes to continue the line of recent weeks. 'We are tired, but also motivated and well prepared to fight for the points.'
Good mood
The German coach said this Monday afternoon at PSV Campus De Herdgang, where the mood is good. "There was very little time between all the games, but of course the mood in the group is good because of the results. We are playing well and we are winning. In our last game of the year, of course that's what it's all about: finishing with a win," Schmidt said.
Motivation high
According to PSV's head coach, he does not need to motivate his team for that. "In recent weeks the boys have given everything in every game. Knowing that we have some rest after tomorrow and can enjoy time with the family, it will be no different against VVV-Venlo."
'No pressure at VVV'
Due to the results of the last few weeks, Schmidt's team seems to be manifesting itself more and more as the biggest challenger to leaders Ajax. Earlier this year, the Amsterdammers recorded a record victory over the team from Venlo (0-13). "Sometimes you have games like that in between," Schmidt put things into perspective. "I think everyone knows that VVV is really not as bad as that result suggested. That was a bad day, but no doubt they will have learned from that. It really won't happen to them again. VVV is a physically strong team and dangerous when they get the chance to swing the ball in front of the goal. Moreover, they play without pressure."
