PSV suffered their first defeat of this competition against Feyenoord. In Rotterdam, head coach Mark van Bommel's team lost 2-1. Luuk de Jong was obviously heavily disappointed with the loss: "It just wasn't good today."
Not sharp
According to the captain, PSV let it down in the first half. "We were not ourselves today. The first half was not good. We lost a lot of ball and Feyenoord took advantage of that. They provided more fight from the start and they won more duels. We lost to ourselves." De Jong saw a stronger PSV after the break, but unfortunately it was to no avail for the final result. "In the second half it was really one-way traffic. We had a lot of chances, but we just weren't sharp today."
Bergwijn thought it was weak
"It was weak, we lost too many duels and if you don't win those you don't get to play football. We really have ourselves to blame," was also the telling comment of Steven Bergwijn, who indicated that Mark van Bommel expressed himself in similar terms.
Van Bommel
At FOX Sports, Van Bommel did not hide that disappointment. "I am most disappointed that we let them come into the duels. We knew beforehand that they wanted to play this game. The moments they were able to hurt us came because we lost the ball," said the head coach, who complimented Feyenoord on their first half. "Based on effort they did a fantastic job, but in the second half we did well and you actually have to make it 2-2. And then you can win as well."
