While being loudly cheered by the away crowd, captain Marco van Ginkel told FOX Sports he was extremely happy with his team's victory over Feyenoord. "From the beginning we showed that we want to be champions," he said.
'Went full steam ahead from thestart'
Van Ginkel betrayed part of the game plan after Feyenoord - PSV, which PSV used to bring the Rotterdammers to their knees (1-3) at De Kuip. "We knew they always go full steam ahead in the beginning, we did exactly the same this time. They had no answer to that," the captain spoke to FOX Sports. "Moreover, we kept that up for a long time. Maybe we should have decided it earlier, but all in all it was just a good game from our side."
Cocu proud
Beforehand, Van Ginkel and his team knew that a win would put PSV two points ahead of Ajax. The Amsterdammers came no further than 0-0 against ADO Den Haag in the ArenA. "I said that to the players, because often that provides an extra incentive," Phillip Cocu told me. "I am proud and satisfied. We played excellently, under considerable pressure. I saw that we wanted to win every duel, that we showed guts and were also effective up front. It's a wonderful weekend, may there be more like it," the head coach said.
