VVV-Venlo takes distance before halftime
Young PSV got off to an eager start in the first half. Steven Bergwijn, who together with Marcel Ritzmaier came over from the A-selection, headed towards the opponent's goal in the 5th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to save. After that, VVV-Venlo's attempts followed one another. Reisda came in front of the goal several times, but was unable to hit the net. In the 22nd minute, Nijholt finally beat Bertrams after hitting the post twice. The second goal, in the 28th minute, came from Opoku, who shot hard. Loof was then unfortunate in the closing stages of the first half when he put the 0-3 into his own goal.

First goal Sam Lammers
The second half started with two changes in PSV's team. Hermannsson and Leemans left the field and were replaced by Dirk Abels and Olivier Rommens. It had something of an effect, as through his first goal in professional football, Sam Lammers managed to score 1-3. It did not turn things around, however, because after some chances back and forth VVV-Venlo scored the 1-4 in the 76th minute through Buwalda. Moments later, goalkeeper Betrams was passed again. This time by Opoku who made it 1-5. That was all.
