PSV will play NAC Breda on Tuesday night at 8:45 pm. A preview based on facts and figures.
Based on statistics, it promises to be an exciting match. Of the last eight duels in Breda, PSV won only one. That was two seasons ago, when PSV struck out 1-6. Jeremain Lens (2), Georginio Wijnaldum, Mathias Zanka Jørgensen, Luciano Narsingh and Jürgen Locadia were the goal scorers. Jordy Buijs briefly brought NAC back into the game at 0-2, but after that PSV ran far out. Last season, however, things went very differently. Locadia did give PSV the lead, but the now departed Kees Kwakman gave NAC the victory with two goals.
Large home win
PSV won the first three games since the winter break and should the team also win tonight in Breda, the virtual lead over number two Ajax is already 12 points. The Amsterdammers play next Thursday at home against AZ. The victories over Vitesse, SC Cambuur and Willem II were hard-fought and each time PSV managed to win by just one goal difference. Earlier this season, PSV played its first home game against NAC. Then coach Nebojsa Gudelj saw his team lose 6-1. Georginio Wijnaldum (2), Memphis Depay (2) and Jürgen Locadia were goalscorers. Aleksandar Damcevski passed his own goalkeeper Ten Rouwelaar and Adnane Tighadouini saved Breda's honor from the penalty spot.
Busy transfer period
In the winter transfer market, NAC has been actively working to strengthen itself. The club is currently seventeenth in the Eredivisie and wants to get out of there as soon as possible, which is why the selection has been given a number of injections. Head coach Robert Maaskant now has Dirk Marcellis (AZ), Menno Koch (PSV), Guyon Fernandez (transfer free), Divine Naah (Manchester City), Felitciano Zschusschen (FC Twente) and Ruben Ligeon (Ajax) at his disposal. Despite these reinforcements, NAC still awaits its first win of 2015. A scoreless draw against Willem II and Excelsior and a loss to PEC Zwolle.
