Over 1,500 spectators watched Young PSV deservedly win over Jong Ajax on Easter Monday. At De Herdgang it became 3-1.
Goal-rich first half
Despite a number of nice chances, Young PSV did not start off well against Jong Ajax. Jansen's team found itself behind early on. Goalkeeper Koopmans miscalculated a long-distance shot by Cerny in the 12th minute, forcing Young PSV to chase. An answer followed a minute later through Lammers, who forced Alblas into a save. That chance proved to be a prelude to more, and within the space of 5 minutes, Young PSV turned the game completely around. Rosario scored the equalizer in the 24th minute, curling the ball into the crossbar from distance, and Gudmundsson made it 2-1 from a rebound in the 28th minute.
Gudmundsson again involved
After halftime, Jong Ajax looked emphatically for the equalizer and, through Savastano, came close. In the 46th minute the defender suddenly appeared in front of Koopmans, but failed to work the equalizer in. Gudmundsson's aim was considerably sharper. After an hour of play, the Icelander pushed forward and found the net again via an Ajax defender: 3-1. A goal that was eventually awarded to Bergsma. With that the Amsterdam resistance was broken. In the closing stages, Gudmundsson got his hands on the ball after a clever dribble that ended in the fists of Alblas.
