Joey Veerman scored the decisive goal in the semifinals of the KNVB Beker. And so the matchwinner appeared before ESPN's camera, where he also touched on his transfer last winter.

'Needed a step'
Free from the left, Joey Veerman got off to a good start, the sports broadcaster's journalists noted. "If you play with better players then you start playing better football yourself," Veerman put his sterling performance in the cup into perspective. "I needed that step I noticed. At sc Heerenveen I started myself on a dribble, retrieving the ball and eventually scoring. Here I get it higher and it doesn't take that long to get to the goal."

'Could have been more'
"They made the first one, but after that goal and red card, I knew we were going to win the game." Veerman was pleased with his goal, but "it could have been more," he said. "I could have scored a goal in the first half and again later, but luckily now it sat. I always place it and now too, I'm happy with it."
