Van Ginkel: 'We're going for it'

Captain Marco van Ginkel extensively thanked the PSV crowd after the game for their support in 2017. His words and congratulations were loudly answered: 'We're on top, we're on top,' it sounded. "We're going for it," he countered.

'Awakened'
The captain did fall behind with PSV against Vitesse. "After the 0-1 we were woken up," Van Ginkel observed. "In the last phase before halftime you see how we have to start. Then Vitesse doesn't know either. We then go into halftime with 1-1 nice. The 2-1 just after halftime then comes in handy," said the captain, who disagreed with the criticism that PSV did not play well. "You like to keep saying that. You get to hear that every week. I'm not saying it was good, but there are also excellent moments."

Cocu: 'played maturely '
So did head coach Phillip Cocu. "We played maturely today," he said. "We stayed cool after the deficit, only that little bit extra was missing. All in all, we can look back on a good first half of the season, after the debacle in Osijek." The win over Vitesse was the 20th at the Philips Stadium in the Eredivisie in a row. "An exceptional series, but I'm not really into statistics. It mainly indicates that we are performing very well at home. We are going into the vacations with a good feeling."

PSV begins the second half of the season on Thursday, Jan. 4, with an open training session. This will take place at 10.30 am. A day later, the team will leave for America on training camp.
