Head coach Mark van Bommel couldn't help but compliment his eleven on their performance against Tottenham Hotspur. "We fought like lions," he said.
'Everything done about it'
Van Bommel said this at the press conference after the narrow defeat (2-1). "We did everything we could to get a result," he continued. "Of course Tottenham got chances, but our goalkeeper (Jeroen Zoet, ed.) was great. We played with all our might for the result. Everyone did."
Pressing
After Luuk de Jong 's early opening goal, the home team quickly pressed on, after halftime they stepped it up a notch. "We didn't want to be so far back, but Spurs is such a good team. They force you to defend. We did that very well for a long time and after the 1-1 we were even able to make it 1-2. That might have been a little undeserved, but still. We showed our best side. Not just tonight. Maybe we deserved a little more in this group, but we are playing against the best teams in Europe."
Supporters
Van Bommel also wanted to dwell on the fantastic support of the PSV supporters in London. "They were behind the team the whole match and gave us a standing ovation afterwards. Fantastic. It seemed like a home game. The interaction between the boys and the crowd is heartwarming."
