In five days, the Netherlands will know who is the new champion of the Eredivisie. The favorite is frontrunner Ajax, but PSV has not given up hope of a new title. A preview with Mark van Bommel.

Ajax has to deal with this'
At De Herdgang, it was initially mainly about the mental blow Ajax might have suffered from the elimination against Tottenham. PSV's rival was eliminated in a similar way to what happened to Van Bommel with the club itself. "I had the memory of 2005 when we played against AC Milan in the semifinals," the coach said. "If you are on the threshold of the Champions League final, you are not over that after one day after a defeat. For me as a player, the loss in 2005 was one of the biggest setbacks. Just like the lost final with Bayern Munich against Inter Milan."

According to Van Bommel, therefore, it affects players. "Ajax has to deal with this. We don't, we have to win against AZ and Heracles. AZ is good, footballing team. They can be creative and have different ways of attacking and building."

Romero
It is known that PSV will not have Hirving Lozano against AZ. Another striker, Maxi Romero, will be back and that makes Van Bommel happy. "I am happy that Romero is fit. I want to be on the training pitch with as many players as possible. The players who have to do their best to convince me. It is unfortunate that Lozano is not participating. There is a chance he played his last game," the coach said.

Finally, Van Bommel returned to the fact that the last two rounds of play in the Eredivisie have been switched. According to him, that has (great) influence on the outcome of the league and something like that is really only possible in the Netherlands. "All matches have a story. There is a difference in the starting position. AZ needs one more point. If they played the game against Excelsior, which is now their last game, in round 33, this game would have been very different.
