PSV O19 lost the crucial match against their peers Arsenal FC. At PSV Campus De Herdgang both teams went to rest with a tie, but in the second half the match was decided in favor of the English. In the 3-1 defeat, Jesper Uneken signed for PSV's goal.
With barely five minutes on the clock, Charles Sagoe broke through after a splitting depth pass. Eye to eye with PSV goalkeeper Roy Steur, he found his fellow attacker Amario Cozer-Duberry. He was able to shoot in front of an empty goal.
So Vincent Heilmann 's formation had to look for the equalizer. Julian Kwaaitaal had an excellent opportunity in the 29th minute, but pushed the ball a meter past the post. Some three minutes later, the young outfielder was the center of the festivities: after a far throw from Roy, Julian put in a fine rush, but saw his effort smashed against the crossbar. Jesper Uneken then reacted most alertly and headed PSV O19 alongside. In the remainder of the first half, the promising team had several chances to make it 2-1, but it remained equal.
Decision
At halftime, the whistle was blown in France between groupmates RC Lens and Sevilla FC. Both teams drew 1-1, so a win for PSV would mean victory in the youth tournament. However, the team had to win first. Yet it was Arsenal FC who took the lead for the second time in the match in the 68th minute: again Amario Cozer-Duberry was the winner, this time with a shot from outside the penalty area. Whereas PSV created many chances in the final stages of the first half, the opportunities were far fewer in the second half. The opponent from London even managed to extend the score to 3-1. Defender Josh Nicols was responsible for that goal.
