The paths of PSV and Xavi Simons are about to part. Paris Saint-Germain will bring the talented midfielder back to France after one year. Thus an end comes to a short, but special tenure of the 20-year-old playmaker.
For years, Xavi Simons was considered one of the most outstanding talents in Europe, but did not make his definitive breakthrough in Paris. At PSV, he grew to become one of the mainstays of the selection and flavor maker of the Eredivisie. He became the first teenager in 20 years to score at least 10 league goals for the club. In the 2-1 victory over AZ, his last official match, he accounted for both goals.
He eventually reached twenty goals and twelve assists in fifty games. His achievements were rewarded, among other things, with two election as Eredivisie Player of the Month. Thanks in part to his efforts, PSV won the Johan Cruijff Schaal and the KNVB Cup. PSV wishes him all the best with the continuation of his career.
