PSV is acquiring Adamo Nagalo from FC Nordsjaelland. The 15-time Burkina Faso international signed a contract Monday that ties him to PSV until the summer of 2029.
Adamo Nagalo was born on Sept. 22, 2002, in the Ivorian city of Abidjan. The 21-year-old defender played in youth at the Right to Dream academy in Ghana, where he was picked up by FC Nordsjaelland in 2021. Adamo has since been on the field for the Danish team for 114 games. In those, he scored four goals, three of them by head.
On Nov. 19, the defender made his debut for Burkina Faso's national team. He has since become a regular for Les Étalons, for whom he played two games in action during the Africa Cup.
Adventure
Adamo says he was ready for a new sporting challenge. "When PSV came along I didn't hesitate for a moment," he says. "PSV is the right club for me at the right time. It's great to be here. I could hardly even sleep last night because I am so much looking forward to this adventure."
The acquisition looks ambitiously ahead and hopes for playing time in the UEFA Champions League. "On the ball I am confident and I can play well in service of the team. I want to become the best and therefore invest a lot of time in watching footage back and listening to trainers and fellow players. From childhood, I want to play against the best. That is possible in the Champions League. That's a big step from the Conference League, but if you want to become the best you have to take that challenge."
Comfortable
Director of Football Affairs Earnest Stewart is happy to have the talented central defender from PSV. "After the departure of some players in defense, it was no secret that we wanted to strengthen the rearguard. With the arrival of Rick, Adamo and previously Ryan Flamingo, we succeeded. We had been following Adamo for some time and are particularly charmed by his qualities. He is a strong and fast central defender, who is comfortable on the ball. Adamo can develop even further under our technical staff. From the first moment we had contact with him he showed that he really wants to play for PSV. We think that is important and we like to see that."
