Losing is always difficult, Roger Schmidt stated after the game against AZ. There were opportunities, but in the end the opponent drew the longest straw. The Head Coach reflects on the match.

Not good enough
"We were not in our rhythm," Schmidt stated. "We committed too many fouls and we didn't line up enough. This cost us a lot of time and chances. In the beginning we were a lot better in the game. We had control and a lot went well, but we didn't score. It only stayed at one goal and that just wasn't enough. You can't be satisfied with a minimal lead."

"We need to put the game in our hands more often. You get ninety minutes to be better than your opponent and to score more goals. We didn't do that well now and the next games simply have to be better."

Bales
Gakpo is also disappointed. The vice-captain was unable to make the difference this match: "We didn't have to lose. It was too messy after the 1-2. We stuck together well but we didn't get to play football anymore. At times it was good, but we didn't create enough chances. We failed to score and then you see the 1-2 fly in. Then you're balking."
