PSV Women recorded a magnificent victory in the Eredivisie Women. The team fell behind twice, but fought back and took the full prize against FC Twente.
In the first half, there was not much to see on either side. Neither PSV nor FC Twente created any major chances. Sander Luiten's team did not get further than long-distance shots and one clear-cut opportunity. One disappointment was that FC Twente took the lead just before halftime. After a handball, the ball went to the spot and the striker did not fail to score.
Spectacle
The second half was the opposite of the first 45 minutes. PSV Women immediately went in search of the equalizer and it came quickly through Smits. The striker neatly rounded a cross from Pattiwael into the far corner. Then the team tried to push on. And the same Smits hit the bar. Where her header did not go in, it fell in at the other end and FC Twente took the lead for the second time. A setback, but PSV did not give up and kept looking for the goal. After Kuijpers also hit the crossbar, it was Snoeijs who made the deserved 2-2 on a pass from the outside playmaker. And it didn't stop there. Soon after the equalizer, PSV also took the lead through another goal by Joëlle Smits. A nice win against the reigning national champion!
PSV Women are alone in the lead in the Eredivisie Women with nine points from three games with this victory. Next Friday, the team plays the home game against ADO Den Haag. Kickoff at PSV Campus De Herdgang is at 7:30 p.m.
