After the midweek victory over NAC Breda in the quarterfinals of the TOTO KNVB Beker, an important game in the Eredivisie awaits Roger Schmidt and his squad on Saturday. At the Gelredome, Vitesse is the next opponent in the league. PSV travels to Arnhem with an almost fit selection.
Satisfied
"The game shown on Tuesday makes me very satisfied," Schmidt opened his analysis. "We would like to continue the path we have embarked on. We are not going to sit down after the two narrow defeats in the league. It is up to us as a team to show a reaction and show that we are cut from the right cloth. In the coming weeks it is important to start a new series as we managed to do several times earlier this season," sounds from the head coach of PSV.
Opponent
Schmidt knows where the strengths of the team from Arnhem lie. "Vitesse is a good opponent and it won't be easy to beat them at home. They might not be in the best period, but I expect that with the return of Loïs Openda and Jacob Rasmussen they will get a boost. We will have to be on our guard in the switch. The wing defenders often play an important role in their battle plan."
Battle plan
"In the home game earlier this season, we showed how to fight Vitesse. We controlled the whole match and put on a very neat positional game. Moreover, we created enough chances. If we can bring this up the same way next Saturday, I am convinced we will return home with the three points."
Fit
Marco van Ginkel is in all likelihood back in the selection. Only André Ramalho, Ryan Thomas and Maxi Romero are still recovering from their injuries. Ramalho's recovery is progressing faster than expected. The Brazilian initially did not seem to be available until April at the earliest, but according to Schmidt an earlier return is not unthinkable.
