Head coach Roger Schmidt was bitterly disappointed after the 4-1 defeat against PAOK. "After halftime, one counter after another went in. That was partly due to a lack of experience and partly due to a lack of energy," he said in Thessaloniki.
"Before halftime we controlled the game, but even then we made a lot of unnecessary mistakes. We talked about that at halftime, of course," Schmidt analyzed his team's play. In the second half, however, things quickly went wrong. "We got a goal against from a standard situation and then one counter after another went in. Especially in possession we made the wrong choices. The rest of the defense wasn't in order either. I think that is partly due to a lack of experience. At the same time, tonight we paid the price for the effort of recent weeks. We ran out of energy."
