PSV played a dominant match against Heracles Almelo. Three important points stayed in Eindhoven. Head coach Roger Schmidt is positive, but believes there is still room for improvement at PSV.
Focus
"It was a good game with good tactics, but certainly not easy," reflected the Head Coach. "Our pressing, ball possession and defensive work were excellent, especially in the first half. Although we do need to decide the game earlier. We could have thrown the lock on it after 30 or 40 minutes. When that doesn't happen, you have to stay focused. All in all, it was a good game, except for the goal and the missed chances."
Tension
Tension briefly returned when Heracles scored, but PSV recovered within minutes by making it 3-1. "You have to be able to deal with that," Schmidt stated. "We quickly backpedaled when we had to and hardly got into trouble. Right now there is a very good balance in the team. Of course we are also happy that Cody Gakpo and Armando Obispo are back, that gives us more options."
MOTM
Joey Veerman was named Man of the Match by PSV's supporters. A justified decision, if it is up to Schmidt: "He has a lot of self-confidence on the ball and can always find a solution. Even when he is under pressure, which is one of his main talents. He made the 1-0 himself and was also important in our third goal. He is an incredibly complete player."
