PSV is ready for the topper against Ajax. Roger Schmidt reveals that he expects a spirited duel. "From the start to the final signal we have to be fully concentrated. We have to use all our weapons and qualities. We know we can win."
Confidence
The head coach reveals that he is not lingering on the defeat against Ajax early this season. "Of course it's annoying that we lost that game by those numbers, but we have to let that go now. We weren't comfortable at the time. We lost key players like Cody Gakpo and Noni Madueke in the game before against Monaco. Because of that, we had to improvise." He explains that every match has its own story." We have to move forward now. We have already shown this season that we can win against teams like AZ and Ajax. We have to focus well on Sunday and then I am confident."
Setback
That it will be an important match, Schmidt confirmed. "We will have the chance to increase the lead and we will work hard for that." He does agree, however, that not everything is going to go our way. "You have an advantage when you play in your own stadium with an audience. Unfortunately, that's not allowed yet. Also, a number of important players are injured and part of the squad is not completely fit. That is against us. Nevertheless, we know we can win and show our best performance.
Qualities
Despite several players being unable to attend Sunday, the club has good options. "Joey Veerman made his debut against Telstar on Thursday. He played a good game and even scored one goal. He is a smart guy and integrates quickly. We are therefore very happy with him." Eran Zahavi also appeared on the pitch again on Thursday after several months of injury and will probably be able to re-enforce his team on Sunday.
