Roger Schmidt is in good spirits after the victory over PEC Zwolle. He has seen areas for improvement in his team, but also positive things that he wants to take to Thursday's duel with AS Monaco.
The right moment
The head coach could not look at the match completely relaxed, as PSV had to face a deficit for about 80 minutes. Still, he is satisfied with how his team recovered. "When you have 8 minutes left to score, it's hard to stay calm. But you have to accept that," Schmidt said. "The good thing I've seen is that we always believe in ourselves, can always put pressure on the opponent and force mistakes from them. In the future, though, we have to make sure we win easier. When you are so much better than the opponent you have to score at the right time."
Europa League
Schmidt is keeping a cool head ahead of the next duels: "I always try to see the positive. We won today, that's up front. We can take that feeling to important games next week. When you score doesn't matter, as long as you do it more often than the opponent. Thursday against AS Monaco we will have to do some things better, but that will be a completely different match. It's a good team with a lot of potential. Every matchday in the Europa League we have to take a step toward wintering in the group stage."
