Head coach Roger Schmidt has yet to suffer a defeat in the Eredivisie with his team. Also against FC Groningen PSV drew the longest straw. The German looks back on a bizarre match.

Worked hard
"The two goals against were not pleasant," Schmidt analyzed. "We have had some good weeks. Today was also good but there were points of attention in defense. We had some problems in the beginning. Not every win will come easy. The opponent was fresh and well prepared. Because of the many games we have played, it was more difficult for us. But we worked hard and scored good goals. It wasn't perfect, but it was a deserved win. In difficult moments you have to show character, we did that."

Gakpo & Bruma

Schmidt was particularly charmed by Cody Gakpo, who made his mark on the match with a goal and two assists: "He has great potential. I expect him to have a very nice career, he is only at the beginning now. He has the potential to be a leader for the team. A native of Eindhoven, has been with the club since he was five years old. If he wouldn't make a good captain, who would?" The coach also has praise for Bruma. The Portuguese took a goal in the closing minutes: "He is making very good strides and is happy in the group. His goal will give his self-confidence a good boost. He has been able to make a new, fresh start at PSV."
