Roger Schmidt is looking forward to the start of the KNVB Cup tournament. On Wednesday, PSV will play Fortuna Sittard for a place in the third round. 'We have a tough schedule with games on Sunday and Wednesday. Nevertheless, the team is completely ready. The players are in good shape.'

Only winners
Schmidt reveals that he sees the TOTO KNVB Beker as a "special tournament. "That's because you're constantly playing against winners. I like a format like that. We will try very hard tomorrow to win the match and advance to the next round. Our goal ultimately is to reach the finals. We take the cup very seriously and we are motivated."

Searching for solutions
PSV also faced Fortuna Sittard in November. It finished 1-4 then. Therefore, the Head Coach knows what to expect on Wednesday. "Fortuna Sittard plays with a very organized defense. In addition, they are constantly looking for counterattacks. This was also good to see last weekend against PEC Zwolle. We have to look for answers to that game, but I am certainly confident about that."

Conference League
Finally, Schmidt briefly looks back at the draw for the UEFA Conference League. "You see that in the Conference League there are also good teams playing. Maccabi Tel Aviv has a strong team. I think, especially also with Eran Zahavi (former Maccabi Tel Aviv player, ed.) in our team, that it will be a special match."
