Young PSV got their first win of the season. The star of the match was Ismael Saibari, who made his mark with a hat-trick. 1-4 was the final score at the AFAS Training Complex.
High tempo
Psv U21 is hoping for sporting revenge after a painful start to the season against Excelsior. Yet the first goal did not fall on the desired side. A quick breakaway from Jong AZ was unstoppable for the Eindhoveners and within five minutes of playing time the 1-0 was already on the board. In the opening stages, Young PSV struggled to keep up with the high tempo of the Alkmaar team. The tandem of Richy Ledezma and Ismael Saibari came close to a chance but a through pass from the American was just too hard to finish off. After a combination forward, Young PSV came close, but a shot by Manu Matuta rebounded off the goalkeeper. Eindhoven's best performer was Ledezma, who managed to slalom through the Jong AZ midfield and later saw a shot go just over the goal. After this, Peter Uneken's team set the pace. The players created three chances in a short period of time. Three minutes before halftime the big chance for the equalizer came. Shurandy Sambo was brought down and that resulted in a penalty kick. Ledezma didn't and shot in for the 1-1.
Early comeback
Another quick goal fell in the second half, but this time in favor of Young PSV. Justin de Haas impressively managed to keep hold of the ball and break through the midfield. From the attack that followed, Saibari managed to take advantage. He coolly shot the 1-2 and brought the lead into Eindhoven's hands. That same Saibari came close to scoring another goal less than five minutes later. He cleverly turned away from the Alkmaar defense and brought the ball close to the goal, but there was no finish. The high tempo from the first half returned and this time the Eindhoven side was in control. Jong AZ had another great chance but a weak shot was no match for Maxime Delanghe. The tempo remained high and Saibari took advantage a second time. The striker was unstoppable in the sixteen-meter area and shot his second of the evening. It was his night, as he managed to play himself free shortly after and completed his hat-trick. 1-4 was the final score.
