At first glance, Roda JC Kerkrade is not the most ideal opponent for PSV to wash away the hangover from the defeat against Feyenoord. PSV traditionally struggles against the Limburgers.

15 points this century
Thus, only Ajax (18) and Feyenoord (17) took more points on visits to the Philips Stadium than Roda JC (15). Last season there was a 1-1 draw on the scoreboard after ninety minutes. In the Eredivisie, PSV won only two of the last six home and away encounters with Roda (three draws, one loss). It also ended in a draw earlier this season. In Kerkrade, neither team scored.

Bad cup experiences
In both the 2013-14 and 2014-15 seasons, PSV's cup adventure ended early against Roda JC. In 2013-14, it was in the third round as PSV went down 3-1 at home. In 2014-2015, the clubs met one round later. In the eighth finals, PSV lost 3-2 after extension on Jan. 20, 2015.

Victory in the cup
This season, PSV had no problems with Roda JC (4-0) in the first round of the cup. Moreover, Roda JC is currently not exactly on a roll on foreign soil. The Limburgers have not won any of their last seven away games (four draws, three losses) and have conceded at least two goals in each of their last five away games.

Safe lead
PSV has only conceded eight goals in home matches this season. So both teams know how to keep the score down, but have had problems scoring earlier in the season. When PSV did take the lead, they did not give it away: they have not lost a point after taking the lead this season. The battle for the first goal will therefore be of vital importance during PSV-Roda JC.
