PSV goes one round further in the KNVB-Bekertoernooi. Fortuna Sittard was defeated 2-0 at home. Ritsu Doan was the man of the match with two goals.

Starting
For PSV, the KNVB Cup campaign began at home. The team had a clear goal: to advance to the cup. From the kickoff, PSV was in control. The first to take advantage of the supremacy was Ritsu Doan with a daring shot from distance. Twice Carlos Vinícius got his head to it, both times the effort fell to Fortuna goalkeeper Yanick van Osch. Mario Götze also came close to opening the scoring, but his shot was blocked at a crucial moment. It was PSV with all the chances, but no goal yet.

Doan opens
It was gradually becoming time for PSV to reward themselves, and Doan did just that. The Japanese man managed to find space himself with flashy moves. After a hooded move, he managed to finish in fine fashion in the small space: 1-0. The pressure was on Fortuna Sittard to do something back, but supremacy remained in Eindhoven's hands. Two more dangerous attempts came from the back line. Armando Obispo almost managed to increase the lead with a header and a shot from distance. The Limburgers actually came up with only one move in the first half. A shot looked to equalize, but Joël Drommel had a cat-like reflex. PSV returned to the locker room with a narrow lead.

Doan doubles
In the second game, the play remained the same, PSV dominating and Fortuna with a rare breakout now and then. However, there was a change in the forwards. Cody Gakpo and Bruma appeared at the starting signal of the second half. PSV held the lead, but a widening was needed to ease the tension. Fortunately, there was Doan again with the release. The outfielder had all the space he needed to take a shot from distance and curled the ball delightfully into the corner. There was still half an hour left on the clock to defend this lead.

Comeback Ledezma
Once again it was Doan who sought danger. In a very smooth combination with Jordan Teze he almost managed to complete his hat-trick, but he just didn't get the ball right in front of his feet. With each passing minute, PSV moved closer to the next round. Doan's hat trick was no longer in the cards. The goal scorer was substituted for Richy Ledezma in the last ten minutes. A nice boost for the American, who made his comeback after a long time. Maxi Romero also got playing time again. After being so important with his assist against N.E.C., he now went in search of the goal. He came very close from the rebound, but was just not in time. After a fairly easy evening, PSV advances to the next round of the KNVB Cup.
