PSV is always a topic of conversation. In PSV in the Picture you can read external reports about players, players, the club and the supporters.

Schmidt compliments Unnerstall
Based on the second half, Roger Schmidt thought PSV's victory over FC Volendam was justified. However, the Head Coach had not forgotten about the first half and shares compliments to Lars Unnerstall. "Lars was fantastic. It was a good decision to bring him on and he made important saves." PSV can prepare for an away game in the quarterfinals of the cup tournament.

'We recover well'
Captain Denzel Dumfries also thanked Unnerstall in front of ESPN's camera, who kept PSV going with crucial saves before tea. "In the cup you know it can go either way, but we can't start like that. I have no explanation for that." Despite being sloppy from PSV's side, Dumfries would rather compliment the Volendammers. "They just did well with a lot of energy. We recovered well in the second half, so that's worth a compliment."

Unnerstall holds no grudges
Unnerstall himself was also on camera after his strong performance in the cup tournament. Whether he will be a permanent cup goalkeeper? "I hope so, yes." A match like this against FC Volendam does make the 30-year-old goalie think a bit. "It was nice to play goalkeeper again. Unfortunately for me, it is not possible to be under the crossbar for a game at Young PSV sometimes, I did ask." That Unnerstall lost the competition to Yvon Mvogo early this season did not bring him bad feelings. "The coach chose Yvon, that's just the way it is. Then you can be angry for a week, but after that you have to think in the interest of the team again."

Tactical change made the difference
Noni Madueke explained to ESPN in great detail why things did work out for PSV in the second half against the Volendam formation. "At halftime we made a tactical change. We switched to 4-3-3, because we knew the space was on the side." For himself, it doesn't matter which formation PSV plays in, because "I can play in any position up front. "It's nice that as a team we can switch easily when needed."

Gakpo question mark for Feyenoord away game
Cody Gakpo will not be there against RKC Waalwijk (Saturday) and FC Emmen (Jan. 26) in any case, Schmidt confirmed to ESPN. "We hope he will be back for the game against Feyenoord. It depends on his recovery process, but we will miss him at least three games."
