The women's team did good business during a catch-up game in and against Heerenveen. Thanks to a convincing win (1-4) they climbed to the third spot in the league table on Tuesday night. Lewerissa (2x), Yüceil and Witteman provided the Eindhoven goals.
Debut Miller
The game started with debutant Miller in goal, the American goalkeeper who came over from Florida State University during the winter break. PSV Women took the initiative after an exploratory start. Lewerissa, the striker in form, scored the opening goal after half an hour: 0-1. Midfielder Yüceil doubled the lead two minutes later from a corner. Miller was then tested with some shots from Hoekstra and Van Velzen but kept her goal clean before halftime.
First goal Witteman
In the second half, sc Heerenveen brought the tension back by working the tying goal in through Kalma: 1-2. PSV kept their cool and continued to look for a goal. Lewerissa then shot PSV Women back to a safe margin: 1-3. This marked her eighth goal in the eight games after the winter break. The agile Witteman then scored her first goal in the PSV shirt, putting the 1-4 final score on the board. The win moves PSV Women up the rankings to third place.
