PSV Women failed to win against PEC Zwolle on Friday night. Despite a goal by once again Aniek Nouwen, the team lost 3-1. The team suffered its second defeat of the season and falls in the league table in the Eredivisie Women.
Nouwen hits the mark
PSV Women started the away game against PEC Zwolle highly motivated, but found themselves trailing within three minutes. The home team had a dream start thanks to a clever goal by Bennink. PSV's Nouwen netted from a corner kick, already the fourth goal for the central defender. Despite the quick 1-1, PSV Women faced a deficit at halftime. PEC Zwolle exploited a penalty via Roof after a hands ball. The halftime score was 2-1.
Susanna's return
Coach Vuckovic decided to intervene at halftime and brought in fresh forces with Koopmans and Rácz. The first phase of the second half was evenly matched and PSV Women took the initiative in the attack. Placed shots by DeCesare and Kuijpers failed to surprise the PEC Zwolle defense. Susanna, returning from an ankle injury, also failed to force a goal with her speed. PSV Women went all out for the equalizer after which Roof used the space given at the back in the closing stages: 3-1. PSV Women suffers its second defeat of the season, losing to PEC Zwolle.
