The start of the season has been excellent for PSV Women, newcomer Excelsior Barendrecht was swept aside 0-7. Thanks to a flying start, PSV Women were soon able to express their field advantage in goal difference.
Susanna breaks the spell
In Rotterdam, PSV Women got off to a whirlwind start against unknown Excelsior Barendrecht, leaving nothing to chance. After twenty minutes of football, the 0-4 mark was on the scoreboard thanks to three goals from a diligent Vanessa Susanna and Sara Yüceil's first goal in the PSV shirt. The storm in front of goalkeeper Sofie van Houtven's goal then subsided briefly before Kirsten Koopmans lifted the score to 0-5 just before halftime.
Seven-goal win for the team
After halftime, PSV Women kept up the pressure and through Mauri van de Wetering and Nadia Coolen, the team ran out to 0-7. PSV radiated calmness and continued to attack frequently. There was a turbulent final phase in which goalkeeper Kelly Steen, who came on for international Angela Christ in the 58th minute, was red carded after a foul. PSV played out the match with goalkeeper Annerens Tijm under the crossbar and nine field players. The big win was never in danger and PSV Women start the season with a seven goal victory against Excelsior Barendrecht. The final score is 0-7.
