Thanks to a win over PEC Zwolle, qualification for the playoffs for the national title is within reach for PSV Women. The Eindhoven team started the carnival weekend with a 3-1 win. Folkertsma, Coolen and Lewerissa provided the goals.
Finishing chances
PSV Women could not make a mistake in Zwolle and started the match offensively. The team failed to immediately capitalize on the first chances against bottom-placed PEC Zwolle, but after a defensive error through Sisca Folkertsma, they were able to open the score in the 8th minute. The creation of chances continued but the sharpness in front of the goal was lacking. The half-time score therefore remained a narrow 0-1 lead.
Walk out after halftime
PEC Zwolle came out of the locker room strong, making the 1-1 draw not undeserved. Substitute Nadia Coolen immediately revived hopes of a good result by shooting in the 1-2 goal four minutes after the equalizer. Striker Vanity Lewerissa stepped up and scored the decisive 1-3. As a result, Lewerissa moved up to second place in the top scorer standings. Because of the 1-3 final score, PSV Women has the play-offs ticket within reach and if Telstar loses this weekend, the team can qualify for the play-offs.
