PSV Women did not come closer than a 2-2 draw in the home match with bottom club PEC Zwolle. All goals came after halftime. Nadia Coolen and Ibtissam Bouharat put PSV ahead twice, but ladies from Zwolle came alongside twice.
First half
Both teams gave each other frequent opportunities to fire at each other's goals in the first half. The many sloppiness did ensure that there was plenty to enjoy. The first danger of the match came from Zwolle attacker Rebecca Doejaaren, who put her fellow player free in front of the goal. Less than a minute later, Melissa Evers played the ball back too short to Angela Christ, this time giving Doejaaren a chance for the opening goal herself. Christ narrowed her goal well and prevented it from becoming 0-1. PEC Zwolle slumped a bit and that resulted in a great chance for Jeslynn Kuijpers, who just needed too much time to get a good shot. In the 24th minute it should have been 1-0 for PSV Women. Nadia Coolen outplayed her direct opponent at speed, passed the ball to Siska Folkertsma who just missed. In the rebound Mauri van de Wetering hit the crossbar and the opportunity was gone. There were more chances for both PEC and PSV, but the first half ended 0-0.
Second half
Immediately after halftime, it was 1-0 for PSV when out of nowhere. Nadia Coolen managed to control a long ball and surprised goalkeeper Olthuis in a one-on-one duel. PSV could not enjoy the lead for very long, because five minutes later Doejaarden simply headed in the equalizer: 1-1. Ibtissam Bouharat made it 2-1 again in the 58th minute after she managed to shoot in two attempts. Even this lead was short-lived, as holding Maran van Erp in the box resulted in a penalty for PEC Zwolle. This was taken by captain Frijlink. Coach Nebojsa Vuckovic brought in Vanessa Susanna, Kika van Es and Myrthe Moorrees in the sequence. Van Es was close to making it 3-2 in the 89th minute, but she came a toe length too short to still secure the victory.
PSV Women failed to make up ground on leaders Ajax, who were held to 0-0 in the away match against SC Heerenveen. The title battle at the top is not yet decided, but PSV is in a downward phase and failed to catch up this evening.
