A packed Herdgang was treated to an exciting match Friday night in which the points were shared. PSV/FC Eindhoven fought their way to a draw (2-2) against a better playing Ajax and can look back on a fine result.
0-1 at halftime
PSV/FC Eindhoven could not complain after the halftime signal that the score was only 0-1 in favor of Ajax. Without really getting into the game, the initiative lay with the Amsterdammers for a long time. A furious start in the second half brought a turnaround, after which the Lighttown Ladies could actually hope for a stunt.
Initiative by Amsterdammers
Early in the first half, Ajax suffered a setback after Merel van Dongen remained on the ground in the 2nd minute after a collision with Jeslynn Kuijpers and was substituted for Daphne Koster. Ajax began energetically and had two good opportunities within six minutes through Ashley Bakker and Chantal de Ridder. In one of the few moments that PSV/FC Eindhoven came closest in the first half, Myrthe Moorrees went closest in the 11th minute when her free kick hit the side netting. At the other end, Desiree van Lunteren rattled over a free kick from 30 meters out, but was successful in the 41st minute when she got the ball at her feet and beat goalkeeper Angela Christ. Ibtissam Bouharat was substituted for Vera Egelmeers in the 38th minute due to a groin injury. Despite Ajax's dominance, the damage was somewhat limited and at halftime it was 0-1 for Ajax.
Exciting final
PSV/FC Eindhoven started the second half furiously and managed to turn the game completely in its favor. After 52 minutes of play, it was 2-1 for PSV/FC Eindhoven. Daniëlle van de Donk had a great shot in the 47th minute and Nadja Pfeiffer was able to get a cross from Nadia Coolen past goalkeeper Du Ruy. PSV/FC Eindhoven smelled blood, but Ajax showed they had a lot of quality. A curled shot into the long corner by Marlous Pieete in the 68th minute made it 2-2. In an exciting final phase in which Sabine Becx came on for Lisanne Vermeulen, both teams looked to counter. Referee Shukrula, who did not have to show a single card, whistled for the final signal after which the exciting match ended 2-2. PSV/FC Eindhoven did not play great, but can look back on a good result against a strong opponent.
