Ajax began energetically and had two good opportunities within six minutes through Ashley Bakker and Chantal de Ridder. In one of the few moments that PSV/FC Eindhoven came closest in the first half, Myrthe Moorrees went closest in the 11th minute when her free kick hit the side netting. At the other end, Desiree van Lunteren rattled over a free kick from 30 meters out, but was successful in the 41st minute when she got the ball at her feet and beat goalkeeper Angela Christ. Ibtissam Bouharat was substituted for Vera Egelmeers in the 38th minute due to a groin injury. Despite Ajax's dominance, the damage was somewhat limited and at halftime it was 0-1 for Ajax.
