The playoffs end for PSV Women with a defeat against national champions Ajax. Friday evening at De Herdgang it became 0-2. PSV Women end the season in third place.

Injury Raaijmakers
Before the match, there were flowers from coach Vuckovic for Ajax captain Koster to congratulate the championship. Mourmans, Akkerman and Folkertsma were also put in the limelight for their 50th game with PSV Women. With the cup final in mind, PSV started with a changed line-up and a basic debut for goalkeeper Tijm. The initiative lay with the away team after which PSV seemed to get into the game better. Yet Ajax took the lead through de Ridder. The shock came shortly after when Raaijmakers was forced to lie down after an unfortunate header duel and left the field on a stretcher for further examination in hospital. Miscommunication in the rearguard then made it 0-2 through Pieëte. A shot by Susanna shortly before halftime was the main achievement on the PSV side.

Chances
After halftime, PSV attacked more often with good chances for van Schijndel and Koopmans. Ajax appeared dangerous in front of goal a few times, but the defensive block was more convincing in the second half. The game dragged on and both teams seemed content with the final score in view of the approaching cup final. PSV Women did not manage to exploit the overtime in the last quarter of an hour, due to a red card for Ajacied Moreno. The sights are set on next Friday: the Ajax - PSV cup final in The Hague.
