After four wins in a row, PSV wasted points for the first time this Eredivisie season. At home, the team lost 0-4 to Feyenoord.

Fireworks
After the smoke from the fireworks had cleared in a swirling Philips Stadium, kickoff could take place. In the first minutes, sloppiness reigned supreme, with ball loss on both sides before there was a threatening moment. A breakout from Cody Gakpo, who used his speed well, seemed to create danger. But the striker was stopped in time. Later, it was Davy Pröpper who provided a clever ball across the defense that Mario Götze was able to take advantage of, but it didn't get beyond a cross. The moments brought spice back to the team, which began to play easier football. For example, in a clever juggling act by Bruma after a combination with Eran Zahavi.

Out of nowhere
After a Rotterdam corner kick, PSV started to direct the game more. Gakpo got a shot off in the process, after a good pass from Götze. However, the effort went just wide of the goal. The Eindhoven captain remained eager to shoot. After accelerating, he was able to make another attempt at the short corner that went just wide of the goal. Phillipp Max tried to surprise the Rotterdam defense with a low free kick around the wall, but goalkeeper Bijlow had the stroke through. The home side's many chances often ended just too early, preventing a good shot. PSV briefly let go of the reins and Feyenoord took advantage. After a quick break the first Rotterdam shot was fired at Joël Drommel's goal and the keeper could not turn it away. Immediately after the game resumed the halftime signal sounded.

No reply
PSV had something to make up for. Roger Schmidt made a tactical change with three substitutions at the start of the second half. Immediately they stormed towards the Feyenoord goal to get something back, with Teze being the first to show himself with a sharp cross that Gakpo just couldn't reach. In a situation similar to the first half, another goal fell out of nowhere. Control was in Eindhoven's hands but Feyenoord managed to score the tying goal to increase their lead. This left PSV facing a tough task in the closing stages.

On lock
There were two goals to make up for in the final quarter of an hour. Substitute Yorbe Vertessen tried to make the difference with his speed and managed to wriggle through the defense regularly, but it did not create much danger. Eventually it fell the wrong way again. A sharp shot into the far corner was unstoppable for Drommel, giving Feyenoord the lead. In the very last minutes things went from bad to worse when even the 0-4 fell. The first points loss of this Eredivisie season became a fact for PSV.
