PSV recorded a convincing 0-3 win over Go Ahead Eagles. The goals by Memphis, Joshua Brenet and Andrés Guardado all fell in the first half.

PSV lord and master
On PSV's side, it was Memphis who caused most of the danger. Within fifteen minutes, Go Ahead goalkeeper Van der Hart saved the striker's effort twice. After fifteen minutes, Memphis was allowed to cheer after all. He fired his second free kick of the evening low into the corner: 0-1. Just before halftime, Brenet and Guardado put PSV on top. Brenet, who replaced the injured Santiago Arias, made it 0-2. He steamed all the way to the Go Ahead penalty area. He looked for passing opportunities, but finally decided to take the shot himself. Via Van der Linden he scored: 0-2. Soon after, Guardado also scored his first goal for PSV this season. Remarkably, the goal came from a rehearsed free kick. After Van der Hart could not keep hold of De Jong's header, Guardado was alert: 0-3.

Goalless second half
Due to PSV's large lead, Go Ahead had to work hard in the second half if they were to get a good result. Foeke Booy's team tried to force a goal, but it did not come. Go Ahead came closest via a corner kick, but a powerful header went just wide via the head of a PSV player. PSV left the initiative to Go Ahead, but was still dangerous themselves. The biggest opportunity came from a counter. Georginio Wijnaldum, together with two teammates and a Go Ahead defender, headed for the enemy goal, but did not get the ball in the right place. His shot lacked precision and was parried by Van der Hart. Because no goals were scored in the closing stages either, the result was already on the scoreboard at halftime: 0-3.
