After sidelining Telstar in the previous round, another Keuken Kampioen Divisie club entered the Philips Stadium. PSV was on the attack for ninety minutes and was hardly in any danger. The 4-0 win over NAC Breda put PSV among the semi-finalists of the KNVB Cup.

Magisterial Madueke
In a swirling Philips Stadium, the battle broke loose for a spot in the semifinals of the KNVB Cup tournament. PSV was in little to no danger in the opening stages. It controlled the match and directed play with attacking momentum. Noni Madueke who returned from injury immediately showed his talent again. With an intelligent cross he put Mario Götze alone in front of the goal, but it did not come to a goal. Yet it did not take long before Madueke was once again loudly sung to by the fans. From a corner kick by Cody Gakpo, the ball was headed towards Madueke, who then worked it in behind NAC goalkeeper Olij: 1-0 within ten minutes.

Shooting tent
NAC tried to take the initiative, but PSV did not let up. The shooting gallery was open. In short order, Erick Gutiérrez, Olivier Boscagli and Cody Gakpo were all three close to a goal. The Eindhoven native pushed forward, intercepted a ball and brought it forward, where he put Götze in position to score. The German did not fail. The midfielder also put the 3-0, and also the halftime score, on the scoreboard when Madueke handed him the ball on a silver platter.

No danger
Goal scorer Madueke stayed behind in the locker room after halftime, the Englishman can look back on a strong comeback. Ritsu Doan came into the lines as his replacement. Immediately, PSV continued where it left off. Gakpo cut into the sixteen from the left and again put NAC goalkeeper Nick Olij to work. The fourth goal was in the air. The Breda players were looking for a stunt and tried to make things difficult for PSV with shots from distance, but Joël Drommel was not in trouble.

Debut
PSV started to play a little looser and so the Breda players came a little closer to the PSV goal, but they did not become dangerous. In fact, PSV made good use of the space behind the last line. An extra goal was scored in the closing stages, and what a goal it was. It was Gakpo himself who found the free space and put the 4-0 on the scoreboard with a wonderful blast. In the closing stages Johan Bakayoko, the top scorer of PSV, made his debut. It almost seemed to be a dream debut. The young Belgian showed off his quick actions and in the last minute took a worthy shot on goal. That one unfortunately graced just past the goal. After a memorable match, PSV can count themselves among the semi-finalists of the KNVB Cup tournament.
