According to Roger Schmidt, his squad will be fit for the game with Sparta Rotterdam on Sunday. The head coach pronounced Friday at the airport that PSV did not suffer any injuries from the 4-1 victory over Sturm Graz. A return to action for Noni Madueke or Davy Pröpper is not in the cards, according to Schmidt.
Fitness
"They are not yet fit enough to be part of the matchday squad," said Schmidt, who then addressed possible injuries after the game with the Austrians. "I have no indication at the moment that there are any injuries. Of course the guys are still tired the day after the game, but I expect everyone to be ready to play against Sparta Rotterdam on Sunday."
Strength
Schmidt won all the duels he has played with PSV against Sparta so far, but twice it was not without a struggle. "Compared to last year, Sparta hasn't changed tremendously in my opinion. In that respect, we know what to expect. They didn't make it easy for us twice and just like in the first game last season, we meet them during a period when we play a lot of games. We obviously want to end the block with a win."
Attitude
The Rotterdammers only won one game this season. Schmidt: "I've also seen that they haven't started the season very strongly, but that doesn't have to mean anything on Sunday. Every game is one in itself. We will have to be focused to win. In that respect, I expect the same attitude from my team as we showed yesterday during the first half."
