After a midweek victory over Maccabi Tel Aviv FC, PSV plays in a full Phillips Stadium for the first time this year. In front of their own crowd, the team has a great start against sc Heerenveen, but the visitors come right back into the match. After a tactical change, PSV plays a perfect second half and wins convincingly against the Frisian visitors.
Full stadium
PSV's 11 men entered the field and were loudly sung to by supporters in a sold-out Philips Stadium. The applause reverberated through the stadium like never before. The fans came out to watch PSV as before, and the team wanted nothing more than to reward their patience with three points. The gas pedal was stepped on. Every interception, goal attempt or clever action was encouraged with loud applause. It took less than fifteen minutes before there was another loud chant. Joey Veerman tried to put Noni Madueke in position with a clever pass. The sc Heerenveen defenders intervened, but lost the ball for a moment. Madueke took advantage and drove the ball hard into the roof of the goal: 1-0.
Setbacks
PSV whirled across the pitch, looking for the second goal. However, the visitors became bolder. Via the counter they occasionally came out dangerously. It did not immediately lead to a goal, but PSV was no longer as supreme as in the opening phase. The Frisians created a shooting chance that unexpectedly flew into the goal via the boot of Olivier Boscagli. A setback for the supporters, but that did not stop them from loudly singing their club's praises and offering support. The compliments afterwards were for Erick Gutiérrez, who managed to get the ball off the line with his head to prevent a second goal. However, his starring role was succeeded by a painful setback. The midfielder fell and had to leave the field injured. PSV raced on to score another goal before the halftime signal, but they did not succeed.
Sprint out of the starting blocks
In the first half, PSV already started strongly, but in the second half they really accelerated well. After halftime, a different PSV appeared on the pitch. On the one hand because Ritsu Doan and Bruma, replaced Cody Gakpo and Noni Madueke, but also because it immediately went on the attack. Bruma, who must have only just warmed up, laid a ball perfectly ready for Mario Götze, who managed to shoot in placed. Moments later, the Philips Stadium exploded for the third time after former Heerenveen player Joey Veerman scored his first Eredivisie goal for PSV. The team was again lord and master and now remained so.
Perfect secondhalf
Sc Heerenveen seemed paralyzed and could no longer offer the necessary resistance. PSV played frivolously and treated the crowd to a delightful afternoon of football. For example, Bruma made two worthy attempts with a shot from distance and a header from close range. Doan was also emphatically present in the sixteen-meter area of the Frisians. The Japanese striker regularly sought to combine with Vinícius. Sc Heerenveen tried to do something back, but partly due to Mauro JR it was to no avail. The Frisians had a great chance, but the Brazilian intervened beautifully and cleared the ball off the line. The supporters made themselves heard for ninety minutes and towards the closing minutes they chanted even louder. Their full return to the stadium was crowned with three well-deserved points. An excellent preparation ahead of the European encounter with Maccabi Tel Aviv FC.
