PSV emerged well from the international break with an excellent 0-5 victory over FC Twente. Memphis' 0-4 was PSV's 100th goal this season in all competitions.
PSV takes distance in short time
PSV goalkeeper Zoet was the first of the two goalkeepers to be put to work. Miyaichi headed in from the left, but his shot ended up right in Zoet's hands. Twente goalkeeper Stevens also had to work within fifteen minutes, punching a De Jong shot out of the corner. Shortly after a great chance for Andersen, who saw his hard shot from a corner kick deflected away by Zoet, De Jong was successful. After about half an hour, Luciano Narsingh hit the post and De Jong tapped in the rebound: 0-1. Five minutes later, PSV also had the second goal. From a corner kick by Adam Maher, Jeffrey Bruma cleverly headed the ball into the net. Georginio Wijnaldum even made it 0-3 in injury time. On a pass from Narsingh, he drove the ball into the corner: 0-3.
Hundredth goal PSV
PSV's goal machine continued to thunder in the second half. Head coach Phillip Cocu's team first had chances to make it 0-4 through De Jong, Narsingh and Memphis, but they all missed. Fifteen minutes before time, Memphis broke the spell in the second half. He was played in on the left and shot via Stevens. It was PSV's 100th goal this season in all competitions. Barely five minutes later he also scored the 0-5. The ball came to his feet via via-via, after which he shot his nineteenth Eredivisie goal from right in front of goal. FC Twente had several opportunities to score before the 0-4, but Zoet kept an excellent second half clean sheet. Five minutes before the end, Wijnaldum tried his luck with a long-distance shot, but Stevens turned it into a corner. The big win over FC Twente puts PSV eleven points ahead of Ajax, which plays an away game at FC Utrecht on Sunday.
