PSV failed to get a result against Feyenoord. Head coach Roger Schmidt's team was statistically the better of the Rotterdammers in almost all respects, but ineffective against the deadly efficient home team: 3-1.

Defeat against the odds
PSV could not use Cody Gakpo against Feyenoord after all. The striker was not found fit at the last minute and therefore did not travel to Rotterdam with his teammates. PSV started aggressively and with pressure, but soon found themselves trailing. Diemers put his foot to the ball on a withdrawn cross and passed Yvon Mvogo.

Deeper into trouble
PSV quickly straightened their backs and had a great chance through Mauro Junior. Just before that, a cross from Philipp Max led to a scrimmage in front of Feyenoord goalkeeper Marsman's goal, but soon the team's problems worsened. Another quick counterattack was first defused by Jordan Teze, but after PSV failed to clear the ball sufficiently, Berghuis scored: 2-0.

Even before halftime 3-0
After a miss by Eran Zahavi, PSV's problems got even worse. Even before halftime, Linssen managed to play away any hopes of a spectacular comeback for Schmidt's team. The striker escaped offside and left Mvogo defenseless with a flick. PSV dutifully made their way towards the Feyenoord goal in the second half and with a bit of luck in their finishing, it could have been very exciting.

Sangaré scores goal
In the 55th minute, Ibrahim Sangaré nodded a free kick from Max into the goal (3-1) and then there were (considerable) chances for Donyell Malen. He failed to pass Marsman. Zahavi also got into a dangerous position several times without success. PSV, which is still second in the Eredivisie after this weekend, sees Feyenoord return to five points on the league table. In six days' time, the team must show recovery against FC Twente.
