Jeroen Zoet will be missing on Saturday against Vitesse. That is what head coach Phillip Cocu told Friday afternoon after the last training session. Whether he will be there on Tuesday against FC Bayern Munich is still doubtful. Jürgen Locadia is also missing against Vitesse.
Also no Narsingh and Siem de Jong
Cocu told PSV TV that Zoet strained a muscle on an away kick. Locadia's recovery is going well, but match minutes are coming too soon. "Jürgen has already participated in shooting practice, but his employability against Vitesse comes too soon. Siem de Jong and Luciano Narsingh are also out."
Cocu satisfied with reaction group
A little later, at the press call, Cocu dwelt on his expectations for the game against the Arnhem squad and dwelled on the consequence of the cup elimination against Sparta Rotterdam. "We discussed the loss in the cup in just under an hour. That has been a conversation to look forward especially. Everyone has had room to express themselves. That was certainly done and I am very pleased with the reaction that came from the group. Now comes point two: making the translation to the field. We expect a certain commitment and perception that I want to see from PSV every game. Against Vitesse I not only hope, but I also expect to see a different PSV than against Sparta."
'Also looking at the good things '
In addition, the coach does not want to dwell only on the lesser performances. According to Cocu, PSV will not gain anything from that. "If you dwell long enough on everything that's not going well, you automatically get heavy legs. You should never dwell too long on the negative. Everyone is going to function better if you also highlight the good things. We have to express those. Looking critically at what you bring to the table is very important. But on the other hand, you have to shine your light on the good things as well."
Turnaround
Indeed, a turnaround could happen at any time, according to Cocu. "It could be an unexpected result, but also a big result. Or when players who are struggling for a goal suddenly score one. That's sometimes the tricky thing in sports. If you're in a good phase you always have to watch out for suddenly falling into a down phase, but it can also be the case that a positive outlier suddenly pulls you out of a down period."
