Despite having to play the entire match against NAC with ten men, PSV managed to win. In Breda, it finished 0-2 through goals by Memphis and Georginio Wijnaldum.

Red card Willems
Already in the first minute, the match was turned on its head. Gill Swerts had the ball on his own half near the sideline, when Willems made his tackle. He did not hit his man, but still referee Blom drew the red card. NAC immediately found themselves with one man more on the pitch, but the intentions of Robert Maaskant's team remained the same. NAC was mainly holding back, PSV was allowed to play with ten men. PSV did become dangerous, including several times through Memphis. It is PSV that plays football and NAC that manages to create little, but the score is still the same.

Memphis breaks open match
Early in the second half, PSV got their reward. A high pass from behind by Adam Maher went straight to Memphis, who volleyed the ball in from the five-yard line. The goal broke the game open and NAC had to come out of their shell to get a result. The players realized this and stepped up a gear. They got no further than an attempt by Guyon Fernandez, whose low shot was denied by Jeroen Zoet. At the other end, Memphis broke through the NAC defense, but just failed to shoot. Fifteen minutes before time, Georginio Wijnaldum decided the game. He was sent into space by Luuk de Jong and shot the ball hard and high into the enemy goal: 0-2. PSV still had chances for more in the closing stages, but De Jong and others were not careful with the chances. As a result, it remained 0-2 and PSV recorded its eighth consecutive victory in the Eredivisie.
