PSV ended a tumultuous visit to Nicosia with a handsome win over Omonia. Despite a slew of setbacks, the team kept fighting and deservedly pulled out the win in the closing stages: 1-2.

Returns Götze and Malen, Teze's starting place
Despite all the personnel problems, PSV was certainly not able to put together an unpleasant team on the late Thursday evening in Cyprus. This was partly due to the comeback of Mario Götze and Donyell Malen. The duo could not start against Vitesse for various reasons, but were there from the start against Omonia Nicosia for PSV, which is plagued by the Corona virus. The standout player was undoubtedly Jordan Teze. The defender was flown in hastily on Thursday after having been refused entry to Cyprus and started at right back.

Unfortunate counter goal
His presence did not make for a carefree opening phase. On a free header chance, the team got away well early in the match. After fifteen minutes, PSV appeared in the opponent's penalty area for the first time. A strong dribble by Noni Madueke did not produce a goal. After half an hour, Gomez did. The Spaniard surprised Yvon Mvogo by taking a free kick quickly and was lucky that the referee missed that the ball was still rolling at the moment of shooting: 1-0.

Malen hit the mark
PSV's answer followed even before halftime. A smooth combination between Götze and Madueke ended up at the feet of Malen, who signed for the equalizer with the outside of his shoe. After halftime, he was also close to a lead for PSV. Once again Malen, captain in the absence of Denzel Dumfries and Pablo Rosario, was played in by Madueke, but this time a Cypriot defender was in the way.

PSV rewards itself
PSV, which certainly had the upper hand in the second part of the second half, nevertheless continued to look for the winning goal and came close to doing so more than five minutes before time. Again it was Malen who created danger, but could not finish a good action effectively. Ihattaren seemed to miss the last chance in the 91st minute, but was allowed to cheer a minute later. After PSV made one last push, Malen was effective: 1-2.
