Every week, Gracenote finds out all about the matches PSV plays. This Sunday, Roger Schmidt's team visits VVV-Venlo. A good result will bring PSV closer to a unique record in the Eredivisie.

Match result
PSV is unbeaten in its last 34 Eredivisie matches with VVV-Venlo (W28-G6-V0), with a goal difference of 99-20. It is thereby chasing a unique record, as only Ajax ever remained unbeaten for longer against the same opponent: forty games against N.E.C. Nijmegen. Earlier this season, PSV won 4-1 at home after goals from Philipp Max, Olivier Boscagli, Cody Gakpo and Adrian Fein. Last season they drew 1-1 at home in Venlo. Then Dumfries was able to save a point in the 92nd minute.

Goals
PSV is the team with the highest number of goals scored by substitutes this Eredivisie season: sixteen. With six games to go, that is already almost as many as this century's record. In 2010-2011, seventeen goals were scored by substitutes at AZ. PSV is also the team that, along with Ajax, scored the highest number of goals after the 75th minute (18). VVV-Venlo, on the other hand, is the team that faced the most goals against in that period (19).

Goal scorers
Should Eran Zahavi score Sunday, it will be the first time two PSV players have been in double figures since 2018-2019. VVV-Venlo has the top scorer in the Eredivisie for now. Giorgios Giakoumakis has made 24 so far, but the Greek has never been a goal-scorer against the traditional top three. If VVV-Venlo gets relegated this season, it will be the first time a relegater has provided the league's top scorer.

Away games
PSV often suffered losses in away matches this season: eight out of fourteen times they failed to win. The last time PSV dropped points in more than eight away matches was in 2013-2014, when it happened in ten matches. In five of the six matches that were won on foreign soil, the opponent was one from the right-hand side of the league.

Schmidt versus Luhukay
This is not the first time the two coaches have met. In the 2014-2015 season, Roger Schmidt's Bayer Leverkussen won both at home (4-2) and away (0-1) from Jos Luhukay's Hertha BSC. Luhukay has been the coach of the Limburg football club since last month.
