Unified headlines
Lionel Messi was the big man at Camp Nou with three goals. The Telegraaf encompassed the match in three alliterative words: 'Masterclass Magic Messi'. The Eindhovens Dagblad wrote 'Still a big beating' above the match report and the Algemeen Dagblad was harsh: 'Gap with absolute top not to be closed'.
" PSV just did very well"
In Veronica Inside, Johan Derksen analyzed PSV's play afterwards. Despite the big result, he was positive about the way the Eindhoven players played. "I especially think that PSV -that sounds a bit crazy when you lost 4-0- did very well. They did a reasonable job for most of the match, but then you get some whims from Messi. Who can then be one of the few players to turn a whole match on its head."
"Even those ball boys are trained on it at Barcelona "
The disappointment on Jorrit Hendrix's face was great after the game. The Limburger was impressed by Barça. "They are so fast on the ball, in the changeover there is space. That's their way of playing. To my idea, even the ball boys are trained to throw those balls into the field as quickly as possible," the Eindhovens Dagblad noted from his mouth from the catacombs.
Bergwijn has a plan
In the new edition of weekly magazine Voetbal International, Steven Bergwijn spoke about his future. The striker has started the season well and that caused him to attract interest from several clubs. "I didn't hesitate for a second myself. I didn't want to leave, I wanted to stay at PSV. I can develop well at PSV and I haven't finished here. That they upgraded my contract and extended it to 2022 is a nice reward for me. That shows appreciation. But everyone also knows that it is not my intention to serve it out. I do have a schedule in my head, but I'm focusing on PSV first."
Captain De Jong reflects
PSV captain Luuk de Jong commented after the match that he felt the defeat was unnecessary. "After the 2-0 we started to play a little more forward. Maybe you shouldn't do that. They have so much quality to find the spaces and score goals. We should have kept it more compact," the striker told Algemeen Dagblad. According to De Jong, PSV had quite a chance. "At halftime we really still had the belief. In the switch moments Barcelona was sometimes lax, we got space and were dangerous a few times. Against a team like Barcelona you have to finish those chances then."
